One of the most anxiously awaited occasions in any school is its Annual day and as with tradition, Divine Child Senior Secondary celebrated its 3rd Annual Day – cum -fete on 30th January 2016, in collaboration with the SSC section on the school grounds. The chief guest of the evening was Rev. Mother Matilda D’Mello, Superior General of the Congregation of the Poor Sisters of Our Lady.
As the Chief Guest arrived, the school-band sprang into tune. She was escorted by a reception-committee, including the members from the Managing Committee, the Principal, teachers and PTA members.
The evening began with the traditional lamp being lit and a graceful prayer dance. This was followed with the felicitation of the chief guest, dignitaries and the co-ordinators. After the chief guest address, the eloquent anchors led the audience through the programme.
The many hours of rehearsals were finally rewarded with a mesmerizing performance by the students of primary, pre-primary and Montessori. Keeping up with the theme of ‘Dancing through the decades’, the talented display of moves through cha-cha, rock-n-roll, disco and the likes kept the audience’s feet tapping to the beats down memory lane.
The evening proved to be truly memorable and was a reflection of the many, many hours of hard tireless work on the part of the Principal, Staff – Teaching and Non – teaching, as well as with the whole-hearted support from the parents. This was acknowledged by the Principal in her vote of thanks. The unceasing applause at the Finale was proof that the show was enjoyed by all.
And this was not all….. To add flavour to the occasion the school fete was thrown open much to the delight of all the children. Amidst the excitement of bungee-jumping and the merry-go-round squeals of laughter filled the air. A ride on the giant wheel was the most sought after.
The food stalls with ‘Mumbai ka chaat’, gola, corn, ice cream and the likes provided a treat to street food lovers. The sound of poongis and whistles, the cries of the stall patrons persuading visitors into buying their wares, the display of various arts, children trying their hands on various games and the laughter of kids playing their creation of games transformed this whole campus into one colourful fair and fun-filled arena.
